Bridgestone Named Official Tyre Supplier for MotoStudent 2025
Bridgestone has been selected as the official tyre supplier for the eighth edition of MotoStudent, a prestigious international university competition challenging the brightest young engineers to design, build, and race their own motorcycles. Organised by the non-profit Moto Engineering Foundation and TechnoPark Motorland, the 2025 edition will see over 1,000 students from 86 teams and 20 countries push the boundaries of innovation and sustainability in two categories: Electric and the all-new eFuel.
For Bridgestone, this partnership isn’t just about tyres – it’s about fuelling the future of motorsport.
“This partnership represents a strategic opportunity for Bridgestone, as it combines brand visibility in the racing segment with our commitment to innovation and the development of university talent,” explains Jorge Santaolalla, Head of Motorcycle Division at Bridgestone South West.
The final event will take place from 15–19 October 2025 at the FIM-certified MotorLand Aragón Circuit in Alcañiz, Spain – the same track used by MotoGP riders. But before that, teams will undergo a rigorous 18-month process of development, starting from scratch to create a 100% sustainable racing motorcycle.
This year’s edition marks a bold leap forward: both competition categories will now be fully sustainable:
- MotoStudent Electric continues to feature 100% electric-powered motorcycles, and remains the only university competition of its kind recognised by the Fédération Internationale de Motocyclisme (FIM).
- MotoStudent eFuel replaces the traditional petrol class, introducing combustion-engine bikes powered exclusively by renewable fuels – reinforcing the competition’s commitment to reducing environmental impact without sacrificing performance.
Daniel Urquizu, Director of MotoStudent, highlights the broader impact: “Having Bridgestone as the official tyre supplier for the VIII Edition of MotoStudent reflects the commitment this prestigious brand has to innovation and the development of university talent. Their support not only elevates the technical level of our competition but also reinforces the importance of investing in sustainable solutions and fostering the transformation of future generations of professionals.”
The collaboration is also closely aligned with the Bridgestone E8 Commitment, the company’s long-term pledge to contribute to a more sustainable world by 2030 through eight core values: Energy, Ecology, Efficiency, Extension, Economy, Emotion, Ergonomics, and Empowerment. These principles serve as a foundation for Bridgestone’s business transformation, fostering trust among future generations and accelerating progress towards its 2050 vision: to continue creating both social and customer value as a sustainable solutions company.
Promoted by the Moto Engineering Foundation and TechnoPark MotorLand, MotoStudent has grown since its inception in 2009 to become an international benchmark in academic motorsport. More than 5,000 students, 350 university teams from 22 countries and four continents have taken part so far, contributing to a cleaner, smarter, and more thrilling future for racing.
At its heart, MotoStudent proves what’s possible when talent, technology, and a shared commitment to progress come together. With Bridgestone supporting every turn of the track, the next generation of engineers is not only racing for the podium – they’re racing for the future.
